Prof. Aliyu Jauro
National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA)
Professor Aliyu Jauro is the current Director General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, NESREA. Prior to his appointment in February 2019 Professor Jauro was Deputy Director and Head of Research at the National Centre for Petroleum Research and Development (NCPRD) at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, (A.T.B.U) Bauchi.
He holds a Bachelor of Tech. Degree in Industrial Chemistry from A.T.B.U Bauchi and MSc and PhD Degrees in Industrial Chemistry from the same University. He joined the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University as a Graduate Assistant in 1997 and rose through the ranks to Professor of Industrial Chemistry in 2014. Professor Aliyu Jauro had won the German Academic Exchange Scholarship (DAAD) and the European Association of Organic Geochemists (EAOG) Travel Grant in 2005. He was an awardee of European Association of Organic Geochemistry (EAOG).
His recent research engagement was by the NNPC (as part of ATBU Team) on Environmental Baseline Studies (EBS) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for its Petroleum Exploration Campaign in the Bauchi/Gombe area inaugurated by President Muhammad Buhari.
He is a fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, (FICCON) and a member of Polymer Institute of Nigeria (MPIN).
Professor Aliyu Jauro hails from Gombe, Gombe State and is married with children.
