ENULEC Electrostatic Printing Assist systems are used by many of the world’s leading gravure printers and machine manufacturers of flexible packaging, tobacco packaging, décor and colour print for publication to improve and maintain the highest standards of print quality by creating the conditions for optimum ink transfer and eliminating “missing dots, dot skips”. They are suitable for use with water based and non metallic solvent based inks when printing on paper, board and plastic film substrates. They are tested and certified to the latest ATEX safety standards and are characterized by their reliability, their low maintenance design and their user friendliness.
ESA Side Loading
The ENULEC Side Loading System is suitable for use in conjunction with all conventional three-layer impression rollers. The charging electrode is not susceptible to dirt contamination, is maintenance free and guarantees perfect print quality and longperformance life.
ESA Direct Charging
The Innovation in ESA impression roller charging and gravure printing. Gravure printing is characterized particularly by its outstanding quality of print which has been further improved by the Enulec ESA Direct Charging – Side Loading system leading to the establishment of new standards. The maintenance free Direct Charging – Side Loading System, with its (German Gebrauchsmuster) registered design system of fluid transmission, enables best quality print results to be achieved in the gravure process whilst adhering to the highest safety standards. This technology is integrated into the products of worldwide leading machine manufacturers and is offered to gravure printers as a complete turnkey package. The distinctive feature of this fluid transmission system is the simplicity of its current transmission to the ESA style impression roller. Safe and fully controlled charging of the impression roller is ensured, even in the event of significant dirt contamination, and the system lends itself to the use of inexpensive impression rollers and sleeves.
ESA TOP Loading
Gravure printing is characterized particularly by its outstanding quality of print which has been further improved by the Enulec ESA Top Loading system leading to the establishment of new standards. The main feature of the Special Top Loading system is a virtually maintenance- free, air assisted charge bar, previously unknown in the gravure packaging printing industry. Compared to the charge bars with open arrays of charging pins used in the past, this new and innovative technology offers the benefit that frequent cleaning is no longer necessary. This is achieved due to a special charge bar construction in which the charging pins are bedded completely into a small tube where they can not be contaminated by particles of ink or dust. Purged by slightly pressurised air a build up of dirt due to ink or substrate dust is prevented. In introducing this innovation, particular attention was paid to overcoming the various weaknesses associated with conventional ESA top loading systems with exposed charging needles, particularly as these relate to safety. Included among such weaknesses is the need for unwanted machine stops which are necessary due to the need for frequent and regular charge bar cleaning.
This highly effective DC static elimination system has been available to the market for the last 15 years and removes troublesome static charge in winding, slitting, laminating and blown film processes. Free ions (both positively and negatively charged) are deposited at high speed onto the surface of the substrate during the winding process and the positively charged ions on the surface of the substrate recombine with the predominantly negatively charged ions coming from the discharge bar. The high performance EST-DC-LDS has an effective range of approximately 20–800 mm (0.79″–31.5”) and does not need to be adjusted to suit the characteristics of differently charged substrates. Using this special DC technology, this static elimination system can be used to remove all combinations of static charge and there is no further need to use AC discharge systems on the machine winder.
Static Inline Measurement
The ENULEC Inline Static Measurement System offers new possibilities for process optimization and an increase in safety during production. Substrates of all types are analysed for electrostatic charge in an inline process and the results so measured are recorded. When a pre-selectable warning threshold has been reached, the system provides a signal to the operator and provides information concerning the critical state of any static electrical charge which is present. The equipment further provides a signal contact to the machine control so offering optimum control over the production process.
