In an effort to provide our visitors with a clear idea of what they can expect from this industry giant, we sat down with Peter Daniel, the company's Chief of Sales for Africa to find out.
Q1. What is the reason you have chosen to exhibit your products/ services at Propak West Africa 2018?
We exhibit with Propak West Africa, because it is the most important and fastest growing packaging fair in West Africa.
Q2. Can you highlight any particularly exciting products/ services you’ll be showcasing this year? I.e. any new launches, top selling products, new partnerships etc.
The market is more ready than ever for fully integrated CI presses like the MIRAFLEX to take over more and more parts of the rotogravure market. In light of this, we’ll be showcasing a fast changeover rotogravure press called DYNASTAR over the three day exhibition in September.
Q3. Will you be offering any special exhibition promotional discounts for visitors?

Q4. What makes you stand out from your competitors? Why should a visitor pick your brand over another?
Our 24/7/365 day Service availability and the fact that we cover the whole range of flexible packaging from cast and blow film extrusion to roto and flexo printing to converting. And this in film AND Paper as well.
Q5. Are you planning to meet existing clients as well as potential new ones?
Both. Besides our well known customers and partners, we always want to connect with new investors to scope out brand new business opportunities.
Q6. Why do you believe industry events such as Propak West Africa are crucial to the industry?
They give a good market overview, it’s crucial to see all the important machinery and service suppliers in one area.
Q7. In your opinion, are there any specific challenges you foresee for the global packaging market?
The environment has become a very important factor within the last years. "Energy saving" and "Zero waste" are important arguments when it comes to purchasing a product.
Q8. You speak about the environment and sustainability being a big priority for the market, does Ishida have any specific product advantages with regards to waste?
Yes, our (Windmoller) VAREX and OPTIMEX extrusion machines produce film with zero waste during production and have the shortest changeover time during job changes worldwide. This easily saves 100 tons of film per year and about 500 Megawatts of energy compared to standard extrusion lines.
Our philosophy is that customers will always be successful if we - as machine suppliers - see them as partners. Before selling a machine we always advise them about markets, trends and the optimized choice of machine. We supply feasibility studies as well to discuss the ROI (return of investment) with our partners. We also give 5-year supplier credit to customers in order to avoid high-interest rates of local banks.
Q9. And more locally, what kind of potential do you see in the West African packaging market specifically?
The import and production of "throw away packaging" will be replaced by more sustainable solutions. Re-usable packaging and also Paper solutions will change the markets.
