Propak West Africa 2017 launches its much anticipated Conference Timetable
Preparations are in full swing for Propak West Africa, organised by Afrocet Montgomery, as the annual Conference schedule is released to the public. With 22 confirmed conference sessions and over 30 expert speakers taking part, the daily free-to-attend Conference is set to be a popular feature of the wider Propak West Africa exhibition.
Opening on the 19th September at the Landmark Centre in Lagos, Nigeria for its 5th edition, the show is expected to draw in over 3,000 visitors. Propak West Africa itself is an international platform for the packaging, plastics and print communities, where thousands of industry professionals and leading brands will come together to share market insights, cutting-edge technology developments and expertise.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome a variety of respected industry speakers to the Propak podium this year who will be divulging observations, experience and topical case studies to attendees. Each session has been selected to reflect a broad range of themes within the industry such as business strategy, efficiency, sustainability as well as sessions focused on different vertical sectors like food processing, print, pharmaceuticals and many more.” Emma Hooper, Business Development Director, Afrocet Montgomery.
Among the industry experts confirmed is packaging giant Tetra Pak’s Managing Director, Phillipe De Louche who will take to the stage to discuss ‘Breakthrough packaging technology to boost efficiency for food producers’. He explains “The purpose of the session is to share Tetra Pak’s experience on developing suitable products for low-income consumers, and to convey how a well-balanced approach can work miracles for increasing the demand and cementing a sustainable business.”
When questioned what he would like audience members to take away from his talk, Mr De Louche commented, “To know that beyond the profitable niches, there is a huge opportunity out there which requires high professionalism but is rewarding”.
With the launch of the brand new ‘Print & Digital Expo’ Pavilion, one of the key focuses for the Conference this year will be on the print industry with a full day of dedicated sessions in addition to technical print seminars.
“As a sector that holds a great deal of potential, print is something we are very interested in promoting at this year’s show. With the increased cross-over between print and packaging, many of the companies attending this year will be able to discover opportunities for growth and expansion at the dedicated print technical and Conference sessions.” Emma Hooper, Business Development Director, Afrocet Montgomery.
Some of the print-focused topics this year include ‘Manpower development in the print industry’, ‘Opportunities for printers in a post-recession economy’ and ‘Counting on suppliers for after sales service’. The print-dedicated sessions will take place on day 3 of Propak West Africa 2017 (21 September 2017).
The Conference will also welcome Ishida’s Marketing Director, Steve Jones. We caught up with him ahead of the Conference to get an overview of his participation at this year’s exhibition;
“Many regions of Africa represent an opportunity as they develop, and the combination of economic development, urbanisation and population growth lay the foundation for development in the packed food industry. Having recognised this, Ishida is pursuing opportunities in a number of African nations and as Nigeria is one of them, taking part in Propak West Africa is an essential platform which we will use to engage with customers and increase our understanding of this fascinating opportunity.”
Mr Jones confirms what he hopes attendees will learn from his session; “to gain an understanding of the broad array of benefits to food manufacturers, retailers and consumers obtained by introducing weighing, packing and quality control automation into the supply chain.”
The Propak West Africa Conference sessions will each be free to attend and space will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. To see the conference schedule in full, click here or visit the website on www.propakwestafrica.com.
