Innovation: Goodbye to Shrink Film

POSTED: 11th Sep

Smurfit Kappa is working on a portfolio of products to replace shrink film.

The Nor-Grip corrugated board solution, manufactured in an automatic packaging line, safely bundles products such as large bottles in consumer-friendly units, so that shrink film is no longer required.

A recent study found that 75 per cent of consumers prefer the Nor-Grip product to plastic shrink film. In view of the global trend towards sustainability, a growing number of international companies are turning to Smurfit Kappa to offer recyclable alternatives to disposable plastics such as shrink film. The Nor-Grip product is suitable for many products that are typically sold in large bottles, such as soft drinks, edible oil, bottled water and detergents. The product has undergone numerous rigorous tests to ensure that it is strong enough to carry even the heaviest loads through all aspects of the supply chain, says Smurfit Kappa.
